This Is Not A Rainbow,2024. Nørrebro, Copenhagen
A safety-enhancing light installation located at the KTK site, created in collaboration with the local working group for Art and Culture under the Urban Renewal programme (Områdefornyelserne) at Skjolds Plads, Nørrebro in Copenhagen. The work consists of 76 LED tubes fitted with custom-made filters and is installed both in the ceiling and along the parkour area beneath the pavilions.
The color sequence, form, and placement of the lights were developed through close collaboration with the working group for Art and Culture, which includes both users of and neighbors to the KTK site. By working collectively with color and light placement, the participants developed a circular color progression that extends across the two pavilions forming the entrance to the site.
In the ceilings, two rows of light tubes are arranged in an installation-like sequence, providing symmetrical and evenly distributed illumination throughout the pavilion area. The color progression moves from left to right through shades of yellow, orange, red, pink, magenta, purple, and violet. Beneath the wooden beams, additional light tubes are installed in an asymmetrical, sculptural arrangement that accentuates the parkour course and highlights its different movement zones.
Previously, the area had been affected by unsafe behavior, graffiti, and drug dealing.
The art project was initiated by the local working group for Art and Culture under the Urban Renewal programme (Områdefornyelserne) and forms part of the new art strategy for the Haraldsgade neighborhood at Nørrebro Copenhagen. The work was on display from April 2024 to April 2025.
